I had a new toy – Dell R410

Remember recent port of Birthday wish list? One of the item was Del R610.

This is what i am up to now at home, with the new toy, its not Dell R610, but Dell 410 is good enough

As usual, dell are selling same stuff with different configuration & call it with different product name.

As what I can see with 4 bay, 2 quad core slot, 8 memory slot, redundant power supply slot, it is exactly Dell 610 with less 1 processor, less 1 power supply. No worry, can upgrade it later.

Remote management, there’s a tiny freakin small LCD in front of the machine which most cases people will not bother.

But this stuff is really kewl, its a management console which allow you to do lots of stuff, including power off & power on

Did a very wrong decision with vmware2.0 for virtualization, not that vmware is not good, but just if you have more than 1 processor, you better think enterprise, vmware 2.0 only limit you to only virtual 2 processor which is crap!

Then I try to look into Xen, same old stuff, CLI here & CLI there, so I go back to vmware start searching for ESX, wallah ! ESXi we go !

Done with ESX, now my problem is with CentOS, freakin damn OS the *.iso is 3.7GB !!

I spend lots of time for thi freakin *.iso so was lots of stuff happening just to gain this farkin *.iso.

1) Reboot my notebook with having “firefox download can resume http downloads – No it does not !

2) Torrent the file while I go to sleep this morning 6am – Wrong option to let the electric socket beside my wife’s notebook socket, she accidentally power off mine.

3) Tweaking my lappylin while waiting for so long to reach 80% – I screw up my boot image.

Last attempt is to download to my brother in law RAN server, then SCP to my own machine which I need tocarry my 19″ monitor back into our computer room (DeLL 410 is running ESX, so wireless is not an option shit ..) DeLL410 stay outside. Carry Ebby into bedroom since servers never understand that we don’t make noise if there is any baby asleep nearby.

Clean up my desk, switch on my old Dimesion 8300, here I am, doing rubbish with my blog “lah”.

Ooops !! F**k !!

While typing this post, my SCP crash ! f**k !! I need to start again with the CentOS copy. *(*(!*((*(**@&&*@*&*(&!!!

I hate CentOS !!

Never mind, just redo the download ……….

Back to the ESXi,

Downloaded & installed the client application which has no option for Linux (this afternoon I need to borrow my wife’s notebook just due to this simple application that never been build by these VMWARE team. F**k you guys for that.

Here is how ESXi looks like.

Me ..? I will just continue with smokealot & caffeine more just to wait for this freakin machine to complete.
